2020 Nell Van De Graaff Classic (Over the board weekender)



Gardiner Chess is delighted to be able to bring you the first major chess tournament for 2020 – The Nell Van de Graaff Classic! This tournament has been a fixture on the Queensland Chess Calendar for many years (formally Gold Coast Classic) with some of the state’s top players taking part each year.

When: Saturday 19th – Sunday 20th September 2020
Where: William Duncan State School, Hall. (Explorer’s Way Highland Park 4213)
Cost: $85 (additional $10 if entering after September 13th)
Time Control: 60 minutes + 10 seconds per move
Ratings: This tournament will be ACF and QJ rated

Schedule:

Registration: Saturday 8:30am – 8:45am

Saturday 19th September: Round 1 @ 9:00am Round 2 @ 12:00pm Round 3 @ 3:00pm Round 4 @ 6:00pm

Sunday 20th September: Round 5 @ 9:00am Round 6 @ 12:00pm Round 7 @ 3:00pm Presentations: 5:30pm

Prizes

1st – $700 2nd – $500 3rd – $300 4th – $200 5th – $100

3x Rating Groups

1st – $150 2nd – $50

Team Prizes

1st – $300 2nd – $200 3rd – $100
Rating Group Team – $200

Food and Beverage
Food and beverages available at the shopping center across the road however juniors must be accompanied by an adult.

This event will be run under a Covid-19 Safe Plan. Please make sure to read through this carefully (by following our website).

Please note entry is limited for this event with only 60 available tickets for the first release please get in early if you wish to secure a spot in the event.
